Standard 6- Communicates: The developing professional applies knowledge of effective communication techniques.
This was a lesson that I created to teach to students in my business class about small business. This lesson is under standard six because I was communicating information about small businesses to the class helping prepare myself and students for a future test. This showed that I was able to effectively communicate the information to students because the short quiz I gave them after they learned about small business they were able to verbally regurgitate back to me. In the future I intend to create a lesson that is much more unique and hands on to help students learn material that may be tough to comprehend including possibly including videos and other visual aids. This will help me communicate important and useful information to students in my classroom.
This lesson was very difficult to teach due to the advanced subject and the foreign language. I was able to effectively communicate with other students in my class reflecting standard six. Student’s clearly understood what was learned and were asked a few questions based on what both I and my partner taught them. In the future I may ask questions throughout the lesson instead of at the end just to double check that there was an understanding of the topic before transitioning into another part of a topic. This will be useful in the future both when teaching Spanish and ELL because even if there is a language barrier I see that there is a certain level of communication that can still be achieved.
