Standard 10- Participates in Professional Community: The developing professional fosters relationships with school colleagues, families, and agencies in the larger community to support student's learning and well being.
This is a document I created in my Spanish class as a project intended for the Hispanic community of Crete falling under standard ten. This pamphlet explains what students can do whether they are United States Citizens or not. This is important because in order to obtain financial aid, you must be a U.S. citizen, but it is important for students who are non-U.S. citizens to understand that they can still go to college! Every school has its own scholarships which are open to anyone, as well as, other scholarships to be found online. There are also private loans, which are both regular and specifically for students. I hope that this will encourage member of Crete's Hispanic community to apply for college and at least see what scholarships that they can get from each school, whether it be for good grades, athletics, club involvement, or something else. I want to be encouraging not only in my classroom, but also in the community, I want to make a difference in the lives of students who may feel that they are limited.
This project was created to inform the Spanish speaking population about Doane college. This is intended for recruitment purposes and to help guide students in their journey of where they want to attend college. It is important for students to be thinking about attending college no matter their background. Many students and parents simply do not know the information and facts about college, such as what college life is like and how it can help them not only in their profession, but in their development as a person. This is underneath standard ten because it helps the community by educating them about what Doane is about and what Doane can offer to Spanish speakers in the community.
