Standard 7- Plans: The developing professional utilizes effective planning techniques.
This was a lesson presented to 50-60 Doane Students, as well as the author of the Holler if You Hear Me, Greg Michie. This lesson fell under standard seven because I spent many hours planning how the lesson was to go and coordinating with Shaylen Doremus to make sure that our lesson structure was similar. I realized that I am very good at deciding what I want students to achieve and have creative, interactive ideas to keep students thinking and also to keep them involved. I look forward to teaching other lessons like this one; I have never felt so accomplished. It is a great feeling hearing from fellow college students that they were very interested and felt that the class was fun. I hope to attain this point of success in the future and plan accordingly to ensure that this is the normal everyday feeling in my classroom.
I included these documents to display my thought process in how I prepared for teaching my lesson. These documents fall under standard seven because I planned for this lesson using the Madeline Hunter Lesson Plan Template, as well as, having the goal in mind to teach students new vocabulary while also working on their English speaking skills. While preparing for this lesson I had to come up with many creative ideas to fill this template. I thought that visual aids as well as physical practice were a couple of good options, especially when working with students who speak a different language, although I think this still holds true to any topic that is difficult for students to comprehend. I learned to think outside of the box which is very useful to convey information and keep students engaged. I want to continue keeping students minds active through various methods of learning activities other than through pictures and verbal skills.
