Standard 9- Reflects on Practice: The developing professional is a reflective practitioner who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.
This is a reflection based on my first lesson which pertains to the ninth standard. This was the first time I thought about how my lesson went or in other words reflecting on practice. I realized I accomplished everything I wanted, along with managing the classroom fairly well, making adjustments for students who were struggling, giving students the chance to direct their learning, and assessing that students reached my goals for them. In the future I can call on students individually and sometimes expect that students raise their hands when they have questions. I realized that collaborative learning is a good option, not always, but often and intend to effectively use both ways in my classroom.
I asked others to revise and edit my paper to ensure that this paper was written at the best of my ability because there are sometimes things I don’t know about writing or things that I do not catch. For each revision I went back and carefully retyped the paper and looked at why each revision was made. I categorized this paper under standard nine because I wanted to become a better, much more knowledgeable writer. I understand that writing is something that is important in every life. I always try to ask other to edit my paper because I want to grow in my abilities as a writer and intend to help edit students’ papers and possibly even have the opportunity to write student recommendations, when it is asked of me in the future.
